Yogurt masks are touted as being good for exfoliation (thanks to the AHA lactic acid) and as a carrier for other ingredients (like honey, oatmeal, lemon, aspirin, tea tree oil, banana, strawberry, cucumber...). I'd used this mask once a week for the past month+, but then decided earlier this week to try using it every night for 4-5 days to really see its effect. Anyone care to guess what happened?
I broke out. Shocking, I know. I think the repeated use of lemon and the AHAs in the yogurt ended up over-irritating my skin. Sadface! As a less frequent treatment, though, I do like this mask; it brightens skin, and does a nice job of exfoliating. The honey and oats provide moisturization and the lemon is an astringent, so it works well for most types of skin. If you're really dry, you should probably skip the lemon, but you can add avocado or banana for added moisture.

Ingredients:
2 T. yogurt (plain, either Greek or strained regular)
1 T. ground oats (using a coffee grinder works great)
2 t. honey
1/4 t. lemon juice
note: T = tablespoon, t = teaspoon, but you really don't need to be precise with your measurements! These are just a guesstimate, since I never actually measure precisely for my masks.
Mix all ingredients in a small bowl. Apply to face with fingers; leftovers can be refrigerated and used within a few days. Let sit on face for 20-30 minutes, unless there is uncomfortable tingling or burning, in which case wash it off pronto! Remove with a wet washcloth or paper towel; trying to remove just using water and your hands won't work so great (the oatmeal gets pretty stuck, and you really have to scrub to get it to come off), but a damp cloth will loosen the mask and help with removal.
Recommended frequency: 1-2 times/week to start; you can try upping the frequency if you like what it does for your skin.
I'll be reviewing another variation of the yogurt mask in a couple weeks, after I give a couple other treatments a try. Stay posted for further reviews!
Have you ever used a yogurt mask? What ingredients did you mix in, if any? Did it help your skin?
