Fragrance Friday

Happy Friday! Ok, let's see how brief I can keep this, eh?

Saturday, July 7
Was super hot. Decided to go to reservoir with the boy and his roommates; wore Estee Lauder Sensuous Nude (Oriental Floral: bergamot, mandarin orange, pepper, pink pepper, jasmine, lily of the valley, coconut water, honey, musk, sandalwood, vanilla, amber, heliotrope, woods) topped with Hermès Eau des Merveilles (Oriental Woody: lemon, orange, pepper, pink pepper, violet, amber, vetiver, cedar, oakmoss, fir), very small spritzes of each. Smelled pleasantly salty/summery. Sprayed on Eau Sauvage (Citrus Aromatic: lemon, basil, bergamot, cumin, lavender, fruit, jasmine, rose, carnation, iris root, coriander, patchouli, sandalwood, oakmoss, vetiver, musk, amber) post-shower, because when it's hot out I tend to shower twice a day (this means twice as much perfume! Also twice as much foundation, mascara, blush...). Delish, as always.

Sunday, July 8
Very hot, hung out at home in the a/c with the boy and planned lessons for the week. Eau Sauvage again, then tried spraying Prada l'Eau Ambrée (Oriental Floral: citrus, lemon, rose, patchouli, vanilla, amber, opoponax) at night: a very pleasant, light amber, suitable for hot weather. The longevity is still lackluster, though.

Monday, July 9
Very hot again, surprise! Wore a green tailored dress and chose my fragrance to match: Chanel No. 19 (Floral Green: green notes, bergamot, rose, iris, vetiver, oakmoss, leather). Lasted through the heat pretty well. Very galbanum-y. Post-shower, still felt hot and horrible so I opted for Eau Sauvage, because that blast of citrus is damn refreshing, much like the air conditioning my mother won't let me turn up. Also realized that I clearly need more hot weather perfumes, since I've pretty much just got the one, so I placed an order with Aedes. Green chypres and citruses, here I come! (Or, more accurately, here they come!)

Tuesday, July 10
Care to guess how the weather was? Decided to spray Pacifica California Star Jasmine (Floral: jasmine, orange, driftwood; there's definitely some green in there, too) perfume at the Duck Store down my shirt so I could see if I would like a bottle of it (considering buying a combo pack from Pacifica with my supposed birthday discount, assuming I can ever get the coupon code to work). Very nice! Light floral with pleasant green crispness, though the green wears off faster than the floral. Don't really get the driftwood, but it does have a bit of very subtle woodiness to it. Light, simple, effortless, and very nice for hot weather. Lasted several hours on me, too. Wore By Kilian Beyond Love (Floral: tuberose, jasmine, musk, amber, green notes, coconut) in the evening, because I felt like tuberose and didn't want to risk Carnal Flower going weird on me.

Wednesday, July 11
Slightly cooler, and actually ended up not needing to take my afternoon shower! (Which, admittedly, I sometimes take just because my post-nap hair looks ridiculous.) Wore Frederic Malle En Passant (Floral Green: lilac, cucumber, watery notes, wheat, petit grain) in the morning, and kept getting whiffs of it through mid-afternoon. Really a gorgeous lilac, and in the heat, I definitely got some of the flour/doughiness that others have mentioned.

Thursday, July 12
Even more slightly cooler, though I was still perfectly comfortable in shorts and a camisole. Decided to try Ormonde Jayne Champaca (Floral: neroli, pink pepper, bamboo, champaca, Basmati rice, green tea, myrrh, musk) again. I still think it's a nice fruity floral that's free of the synthetic notes that can plague the family, but not all that interesting. Pathetic sillage and longevity, too; I put on two sprays, which I very rarely need to do, and couldn't smell it 4 hours later. Of course, in the heat, sometimes light fragrances can be a good thing, but not this light. Pretty, yes, but I wish it were a third the price. Wore Serge Lutens A La Nuit after I woke up from my nap; the first time I wore it, I could definitely smell the kinship with tuberose, but the past couple times I haven't gotten that much at all, except for the presence of pretty hefty doses of camphor. Smells nice, but not as great as when I first wore it––may be better dabbed than sprayed.

Friday, July 13
Felt floral again, strangely, so I decided to re-wear En Passant. Eagerly awaiting my Aedes order (which only shipped yesterday, whyyyy) so I can hopefully add some new staples to my summer choices! Post-shower chose Amouage Memoir Woman (Chypre: cardamom, mandarin, pink pepper, wormwood, clove, incense, pepper, woods, jasmine, rose, white flowers, musk, labdanum, oak moss, styrax, leather), which smells awesomely decadent. Should last me through the night, as it's insanely strong stuff!

What have you been wearing this week? What are your favorite summer perfumes?
